'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a upcoming fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
